A Taste of Heaven: How to Make the Perfect Lasagna

Preparation

Sheets

  • Knead a dough from 400 grams refined flour and 1/2 tablespoon salt.
  • Cover it and keep it for 15-30 minutes.
  • After that, cut square sheets from the dough.
  • Boil water in a deep container and add a little bit of salt and oil in it.
  • Cook the sheets for 5-6 minutes.

Red Sauce

  • Add 2 tablespoon oil in a pan
  • Add 5-6 garlic cloves
  • Add one medium sized onion
  • Cook till onion turns redish – brown
  • Now, add 1 tablespoon red chilli powder
  • Cook on low flame
  • Add 2 cups tomato purée, 1 pinch sugar, 1 tablespoon ketchup, oregano, chilli flakes, black pepper and salt to taste
  • Cover it and cook for 10- 15 minutes.

White Sauce

  • Add 30 grams butter to another container
  • Add 30 grams refined flour
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes on low flame
  • Add 400 ml cold milk in three batches to avoid lumps
  • Again, cook for 2-3 minutes
  • Add 1 pinch black pepper and salt to taste
  • At last, add 50 grams mozzarella cheese

Veggie Filling

  • Add 1 tablespoon oil to another container
  • Add 2 tablespoon chopped garlic cloves
  • Add 1 inch ginger
  • Add 2-3 chopped chillies
  • Cook it for a few minutes
  • Add all the chopped veggies chosen
  • Add 1 pinch black pepper, 1 pinch sugar, 1 pinch oregano, 1 pinch chilli flakes and salt to taste
  • Cook it again for a few minutes

Assembling

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Spread a thin layer of the white sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Place a layer of lasagna sheets over the sauce. Spread a layer of the veggie filling over the sheets then add the red sauce over it. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer filled with cheese.
  • Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top layer.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Allow the lasagna to rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. This helps the layers set and makes it easier to slice.
